Biography

In the 13th century, as the Mongol Empire expanded, Turkic tribes, including the Kyrgyz, began a great migration from the mountainous landscapes of present day Tuva. Moving southward, driven by the tides of empire and the search for greener pastures, they navigated across the vast Central Asian steppe.

From the rugged terrains of the Altai-Sayan Mountains to the expansive plains of Central Asia, the Kyrgyz journey is a testament to resilience and adaptation. Their stories, encounters, and the memories etched into their collective consciousness were woven into songs, capturing the essence of a people constantly on the move.

These songs, rich in detail and emotion, preserved the narrative of their migration across generations. They speak not only of the landscapes and animals they encountered but also of the human experiences of love, loss, and hope. As the Kyrgyz settled into the regions that would become their new homelands, these melodies and lyrics became aural maps of their epic journey, chronicling the profound changes they endured and the indomitable spirit that guided them through centuries of change.
